Greenhouse Container Van A result of a unique public-partnership with the Department of Agriculture, the Greenhouse situated within the Panay power plant complex is envisioned to house vegetables like Romaine lettuce and enable visitors to experience farm-to-table concept – wherein their self-harvested produce goes straight to their plates. At present, the Greenhouse grows ornamental plants using recycled plastic cups from a local beverage shop as seedling containers.
Upcycling Built by upcycling and transforming the leftover scraps and other construction wastes from PEDC’s 150-MW expansion project, the ConVan was built from six units of 20-foot cargo containers that were initially intended to be discarded.

GBP’s Panay Site thought of a better use for the container vans by transforming these into a 12-room accommodation facility, serving as an extension of Panay Plant’s guesthouse.

The ConVan is mostly made of recycled materials – old PVC pipes, used metals and chains that were converted into centerpieces. Upon entry to the ConVan, you will be greeted by a spacious hall with a high ceiling that is easily illuminated with natural lightning during daytime. Come night time, the chandeliers made from repurposed PVC pipes light up the hall, while repurposed pallets are used to create double walls for the rooms and serve as insulation.
